# Privacy Policy — Snake vs Snake

## 1. Overview

Snake vs Snake ("the App", "we", "our") is a single-device arcade game published by Tom Wickert. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, stores, and shares.

**Short version: the App stores game progress locally, can sync saves via Google Play Games cloud save, and on supported Android builds can show interstitial ads at game-over moments with a minimum round gap tracked across sessions.**

## 2. Data We Collect

### 2.1 Data stored locally on your device

The App saves game progress on your device only. This includes:

- High scores and star ratings for each game level
- Achievement progress
- Gameplay statistics (rounds played, win count, total bites, speed boosts used)
- Chosen settings (music volume, sound effects volume, selected snake skin, selected title, selected grid theme, selected difficulty)
- A flag indicating whether the tutorial has been viewed
- Ad-cadence counters used to space out interstitial ads (total rounds played and last interstitial round snapshot)

This data is stored in a local save file (`scores.cfg`) on your device using the operating system's standard application-data storage. By default it remains local to your device. If Google Play Games cloud save is available and enabled in your build/session, save data may be transmitted via Google Play Games services for sync.

### 2.2 Data we do NOT directly collect

The App itself does **not** directly collect, store, or transmit:

- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, device ID)
- Location data
- Camera or microphone data
- Photos or files
- Crash reports or analytics telemetry

## 3. Internet & Network Access

The App requests the Android `INTERNET` permission.

Network access is used for:

- Google Play Games cloud save sync (when available/signed in)
- Ad network requests for interstitial ads (enabled by default on supported Android builds)

## 4. Device Permissions

The App requests the following Android permissions (as applicable to the distributed Android build):

| `INTERNET` | Enables cloud save sync and ad network connectivity |
| `com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID` | Allows ad SDKs to access the Android Advertising ID for ad delivery/fraud prevention on ad-supported builds |

No other sensitive runtime permissions (such as location, contacts, camera, or microphone) are requested.

## 5. Third-Party Services

The App can integrate the following third-party services on Android builds:

- **Google Play Games Services** (cloud save support)
- **Google AdMob** via a compatible Godot mobile ads plugin (interstitial ad delivery on supported Android builds)

These services may process device/app identifiers and network metadata as required for their functionality. Please refer to Google Play Games and Google AdMob provider policies for your distributed build.

## 6. Children's Privacy

The App contains no in-app purchases, no chat, and no social features. It does not directly collect personal information from children under 13. Third-party service providers (cloud save and ads) may process limited technical data as required to operate their services. The App is designed for broad audiences, and we aim to comply with applicable privacy regulations including COPPA and GDPR.

## 7. Data Security

Local save data is stored in your device sandbox. When cloud save is enabled, save data is transmitted through Google Play Games services over the network. Ad requests are handled by the configured mobile ad provider SDK/plugin.

## 8. Your Choices

- **Delete saved data**: Uninstalling the App removes all locally saved game data.
- **Clear data**: You can clear the App's data at any time via your device's Settings → Apps → Snake vs Snake → Storage → Clear Data.
- **Ad behavior**: Interstitial ads are shown only at game-over moments and only after at least 7 rounds have been played since the previous ad. This round-gap pacing persists across app restarts.

## 9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the App gains new features. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Any changes will be reflected in the version of the Policy distributed with the updated App.
